Therapeutic Massage
Sometimes we need a more detailed approach than relaxation massage provides. In a Therapeutic Massage session, I will hone in on an area that’s giving you trouble, then use skill and intuition to address the specifics of your situation and provide you with a specialized massage that will help relieve your pain and discomfort.
Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a light, rhythmic technique to help redirect the flow of lymph around blockages caused by conditions such as injury, surgery, radiation, cancer, or pregnancy. It can help relieve the many discomforts that accompany edema or lymphedema after cancer treatment. It is especially important after certain forms of plastic surgery to prevent or treat pain, tightness, pockets of swelling, or hard lumps of fibrosis. It can also help reduce sinus pain and pressure, painful swelling around the ear and jaw, and facial puffiness.
Cupping
Cupping Therapy (CCM) uses negative pressure, rather than tissue compression, to help address issues such as pain, inflammation, adhesions, and impaired range of motion. Suction cups lift and loosen connective tissue, rapidly facilitate rigid soft tissue release, break up and drain stagnation, and increase blood and lymph flow to skin and muscles in ways not possible using compression. Cupping is especially effective for areas of acute or chronic pain caused by impact trauma.
In a dynamic cupping session, silicone cups are used with cream in a continually-moving style that prevents the formation of dark circles that are common with static cupping.
Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is a form of personalized massage designed to safely accommodate the unique and changing needs of the person in, or with a history of, cancer treatment. I am trained to recognize and safely work within a framework of clinical considerations, including blood cell counts, blood clots, bone mets, medications, medical devices, compromised lymph nodes, and any other pressure, site, or positioning considerations.
